This is too much for Juan Ignacio Londero. The Argentinian denounced the treatment of male and female players during the quarantine preceding the Australian Open.

The Australian Open has not yet started as it is already suffocating the players who will participate. Due to the health situation, each participant must adhere to a two week isolation period imposed by the Australian government. Obviously, this fortnight has trouble getting through with some who, after a week, are already going around in circles in their hotel room. This is the case of Juan Ignacio Londero. The Argentine, who is preparing to play his second Australian Open, is having a hard time with this episode which he describes for Ole as one of his worst experiences ever. Arriving in Australia on January 15, the 81st ATP-ranked player was unlucky to be on a plane in which two people who tested positive for coronavirus were also traveling. Thus, Londero, like all the players who have taken their place in the device which has hosted one or more positive individuals, must respect a much stricter quarantine.
Londero can’t take it anymore
The Argentinian cannot leave his room and, after a week of isolation, he is at wit’s end. “ You have to stay fourteen days locked up without windows, you can’t take the air outside. It’s crazy, and they are also very strict in their treatment, he protested in the columns of the Argentine media. They test us every day. They leave breakfast for you at the door like lunch and dinner. They treat you like you have leprosy a bit. “ A situation all the more frustrating as Londero is not positive for the virus. “It’s a terrible feeling after giving five negative tests,” he adds. Fortunately, the player has in his room the necessary equipment to maintain himself (bike, weight, etc.) but the time is long and this period which puts the mental strain could certainly have an impact, and not for good, at some during the tournament.
