Russia’s Andrey Rublev, seeded No. 1, beat France’s Luca Van Assche in three sets (4-6, 6-3, 6-4) to reach the round of 16 of the Washington tournament on Wednesday evening at the William HG FitzGerald Tennis Center in Washington.
Rublev, ranked 8th in the world in the ATP, will face Frenchman Arthur Rinderknech, seeded 16th in the round of 16 of the Washington tournament.
Van Assche, ranked 118th in the ATP, had eliminated Arthur Cazaux (6-4, 6-3) in the previous round of the Washington Open.
