Corentin Moutet suffered his third defeat in a row this Tuesday in the first round of the Stockholm tournament, against Jacob Fearnley, who has just won two Challenger tournaments in France.

Ending Jacob Fearnley’s twelve-game winning streak. This was Corentin Moutet’s mission in the first round of the ATP 250 in Stockholm. But the French player failed. The world No. 71 lost 6-2, 7-6 in 1h52 against the 23-year-old Scot, now 99th in the world thanks to his two victories in quick succession at the Rennes Challenger (against Quentin Halys in the final) and d’Orléans (against Harold Mayot in the final). The native of Edinburgh has beaten a French player eight times since September 11, and he added a ninth victory against the Parisian, whom he faced for the first time. Broken from the start of the match, Moutet (who had just lost in qualifying in Beijing then in the first round in Shanghai) managed to come back from 0-3 to 2-3. But he lost his serve again at 2-3, then at 2-5, allowing Fearnley to conclude on his fifth set point.

Direction Vienna for Moutet

In the second set, the Frenchman lost his serve twice, but each time managed to pick up the score (1-1; 4-4). He then saved two match points on his serve at 5-6, then pushed his opponent into a tie-break. A decisive game that Fearnley started at the right end, leading 4-1 then 6-3. Moutet then saved three new match points, but at 5-6, he ended up giving in, and it is therefore the Briton who will face Tallon Griekspoor in the round of 16. The Frenchman will compete in the qualifications for the ATP 500 in Vienna. Alexandre Müller will be the other tricolor on the program in Stockholm this Tuesday. Also note this Tuesday the qualification of the number 5 seed Nicolas Jarry to the detriment of the guest Elias Ymer: 2-6, 6-4, 7-6 after a great battle of 2h27, where he saved a ball match at 7-6 in the tie-break, before stringing together three points in a row to win.
