A child died in a freak accident at a haunted hayride over the weekend, Tennessee authorities said.

“Upon arrival, HCSO deputies spoke with the guardian of a group of juveniles who were playing near the hayride tractor path and who were behind some bushes trying to scare some hayriders at the Haunted Hilltop Halloween event,” HCSO explained.

“Deputies were told one of the juveniles may have attempted to jump on the trailer but slipped and fell under the wheels and was found unresponsive.”
The Hamilton County Coroner’s Office told local media the boy was 12 years old. The sheriff’s office expressed condolences to the victim’s family in a press release.
“The HCSO family sends our thoughts and condolences to the family of the deceased youth and others who witnessed this tragic event.” “We ask the community to keep this family in their prayers during this difficult time.”

On Monday evening, Haunted Hilltop told Fox News Digital it was closed for the time being.
