The beautiful beaches of the island of Tenerife have been facing an unexpected inconvenience in recent weeks. In several places there was critical contamination with feces! In some popular seaside resorts, they therefore had to decide to close the beaches completely.
Among the worst affected areas is the Playa Jardín area, where the General Directorate of Public Health imposed a ban on swimming already at the beginning of July. Locals have put up warning banners on the beaches to discourage swimming in the dark water. According to the diary Bild local city hall officials said the ban would remain in place as long as needed. Maybe even for the rest of the summer.
