The Minister of Health, Blas Trujillo, announced, after the analysis of the epidemiological report carried out early today, Tuesday, May 4, that Tenerife drops to alert level 2 after improving its indicators in recent days. The level change takes effect today with the publication of the Traffic Light that marks the levels and epidemiological indicators of each island.
Tenerife will remain at this alert level until next May 11, when its indicators will be reviewed again to see if it remains at that level or proceed to make any changes. According to the epidemiological report prepared by the Directorate General of Public Health of the Canary Service Of Health, the average number of cases diagnosed on the island went from 97 in the period between April 14 and 27 to an average of 75 registered in the last six days.
What’s more, since April 25 the Accumulated Incidence (HE) it is at medium risk and with a downward trend. The 7-day AI on the island was at high risk since March 10, which has remained until the 24th. With an average for this period of 78.5 cases per 100,000 inhabitants, on March 26, April begins to decline to around 72 cases per 100,000 inhabitants, indicating an average risk of virus transmission, a trend that continues to be maintained.
The behavior of this rate in people over 65 has gone in parallel, and after placing some time at high risk, it fell, going from the average of 46.7 cases per 100,000 inhabitants the two weeks before to 28 cases per 100,000 inhabitants in the last five days.
