CD Tenerife and Luis Miguel Ramis trust to announce this Monday the renewal of the Tarragona coach for the 2021-22 season. Sunday’s session has been decisive for both parties to make substantial progress and close a principle of agreement that could be signed in a matter of hours.
The president of the institution, Miguel Concepción, has already been informed of the substantial progress in the negotiation. In fact, he was directly involved with a recent interview with the Catalan coach.
After a week of almost absolute hiatus, the conversations accelerated during the weekend with the trip to the Island of Ramis’s representative, Piru Torralbo, who had lunch with the sports director at a well-known restaurant in Santa Cruz last Friday. By then the coach’s weekly appearance before the media had already taken place. And he had issued a warning that looked like a red line. “They must change a lot of things,” he verbalized.
Tenerife is committed to making these changes take effect. Juan Carlos Cordero will undertake a profound remodeling of the island squad with Ramis, starting by releasing some of the highest chips, especially those with low performances. As the SER advanced a few days ago, the club manages a list of expendable footballers in which are Apeh, Alberto and Joselu Moreno, but also Naranjo and Nahuel Leiva on loan. Well, there will be more departures and players with perishable contracts in June will say goodbye to the representative, which opens a new cycle on the occasion of its Centennial.
Ramis has asked for patience, which has not been with his predecessors in office; will have direct participation in the configuration of the team (the one he inherited did not have the most suitable physiognomy for his way of conceiving the game) and will be involved in other facets related to the sports area to get out of the negative loop that Tenerife has signed in the last seasons.
The former Albacete Balompié landed on the blue and white bench on matchday 13, when the team flirted with relegation places. He replaced Fran Fernández in office. He came to sign candidate figures, but a very weak end of the season (two victories in 13 attempts) sowed doubts in the renewal process. He was not clear on it either. But the most recent conversations have been decisive to agree on the substance and put together a project of stability. As Ramis is scheduled to leave on Tuesday, everything indicates that Monday will be the day to close the renewal, sign the new contract and announce it to the media. The Tenerife of the Centennial year begins to be built.
