Tendam creates a sustainability laboratory with Udit

Tendam invests in green. The company, one of the largest fashion distribution groups in Spain, has created a sustainability laboratory, Tendam Sustainability Lab, in collaboration with the University of Design, Innovation and Technology (Udit) and the support of the consulting firm IDavinci.

This project has the objective of promoting research and development of the company’s R&D&i projectsltransmission of innovation and employee training. Likewise, it aims to expand general knowledge about sustainability and design for circularity and investigate current practices in the industry on the actual implementation of circular design strategies.

With this laboratory, Tendam will promote research projects focused on improving sustainability together with university teachers and researchersthe company wants to make the Sustainability Lab a “hub of knowledge and innovation for the company’s employees through the dissemination and dissemination of content.”

In the words of Ignacio Sierra, corporate general director of Tendam, “the project provides R&D&I capabilities applied to the reality of our operations, enhancing resources to be able to anticipate the innovation already put on the market by our suppliers and to be able to put it at the service of our brands and the entire textile ecosystem.”

For his part, the rector of Udit, Juan Cayón, has expressed satisfaction “that a company like Tendam has given our university the trust to carry out this very ambitious project to work on research and development of R&D projects.” “D+i of the company, the transmission of innovation and the training of its employees.”

The Spanish large fashion distribution group, previously called Grupo Cortefiel, ended the 2023 financial year (which covers from March 1, 2023 to February 29, 2024) with total revenues of 1,288 million euros, which represented 6.5% more than the previous year. The group’s recurring gross operating profit (ebitda) reached 313.3 million euros, which represented an increase of 9.8% compared to 2022.

Tendam has its origins in 1880 in a haberdashery on Romanones Street in Madrid. Today, the company controla Cortefiel, Springfield, Women’secret, Pedro del Hierro, Fifty and Intropia, among other brands.
