the essentials After more than ten years of work, Jérôme Bourda presents the result of the project to expand and modernize the Pyrenees crematorium.
Happy to finally be able to bring together his guests to celebrate the completion of a project initiated more than 10 years ago, Jérôme Bourda, who directs the Pyrenees crematorium, retraced the different stages of its realization.
“In 2014, the sharp increase in cremations and growing demands for ceremonies posed a problem. Ceremony times that were often too short and a space that was far too cramped did not meet the expectations of bereaved families.
We therefore proposed, at the same time as the necessary upgrading of the cremation apparatus, to enlarge the part intended for the public in order to welcome families in a warmer, more welcoming and soothing setting.
It was then the start of a journey strewn with obstacles and 2 years of work with the imperative of maintaining the activity. Thank you to the companies who muted themselves so as not to disrupt the ceremonies.
Today, I have the pleasure of presenting to you the result of this project which is the result of a collaboration with the architect Mr. Rojo, and representatives of the different trades. The unwavering support of Banque Inchauspé in Lourdes has proven essential in facing difficulties of all kinds, administrative, financial and also human. »
Remarkable equipment
From now on, the creation of the new part is equipped with two ceremony rooms, the largest being able to accommodate 150 seats, enhanced with audiovisual equipment which offers the personalization of ceremonies. The choice of materials, colors and furniture is the result of reflection with the sole concern of the well-being and peace of bereaved families.
The completely renovated old part offers a convivial room for families who wish to meet after the ceremony with the possibility of eating, and a waiting room before the delivery of the urn ensures a certain comfort despite the circumstances. The feedback since the recent opening has been more than positive, families appreciate the places and the quality of service that meets the mission.
The coming months will be used for new exterior developments and some technical adjustments.
Before sharing a friendly moment, Jérôme Bourda once again thanked those who, near or far, supported him, advised him… and supported him. He also announced the arrival in the coming days of a fourth employee in order to improve availability on site, especially during vacation periods.
