Ten years of fun at school

Founded in 2014, Alaé allows primary school children to participate in educational, fun and recreational activities outside school hours, such as midday, after school or Wednesday afternoons . 7,729 students were enrolled in Alaé last year, or more than half of the children from kindergarten to CM2.

Creative workshops, sports, nature discovery or awareness of citizenship interrupt the daily life of young people in Nîmes throughout the year. The Atsem (Land Agent specializing in nurseries) is also thinking about bigger projects village leaders to participate in the many main events in the City of Nîmes. For example, 600 children were invited to create drawings and models of the Maison Carrée as part of their application for Unesco in April 2023. The restoration of this work was then exhibited at the Courbet gallery. Others participated in creating costumes for the Pégoulade in the last Pentecost Feria and nearly 300 students symbolically joined a replica of the Olympic torch to the base of the Maison Carrée in March 2024, going to the year of the Olympic Games in France. 24 schools were moved for almost two months during the out-of-school period to present this symbol of peace and brotherhood, which will have covered more than 50 km.
