The Public Prosecution Service is prosecuting ten people who were involved in an explosion of a carbidkanon in the center of Joure, on New Year’s Eve last year. The explosion severely damaged houses and a hotel in the vicinity.
No one was injured, but damage ran into the tens of thousands of euros. Immediately after the incident, twelve people involved, men between the ages of 21 and 28, reported to the police. They said the carbide gun was accidentally dropped off.
Police were investigating what happened that night. According to the Public Prosecution Service, it has been established on the basis of this that the explosion was caused intentionally. “The Public Prosecution Service sees a conscious and close collaboration between ten suspects: three occupants of the car that pulled the carbide gun and seven people on the bridge,” the judiciary reported.
Next year, the ten suspects will have to answer to the court in Leeuwarden, reports Omrop Fryslân. No date has yet been announced.
