During this day, multiple traffic accidents were recorded in different parts of the country, in which at least ten people were injured. One of the incidents took place at kilometer 55 ½ of the highway towards Izalco, Sonsonate, where a truck overturned and knocked down several electrical power poles. According to the National Civil Police (PNC), two people were injured in the accident.
Meanwhile, during the afternoon of this Monday, an accident was recorded at kilometer 163 of the Pan-American Highway, in the municipality of El Carmen, La Unión. According to the PNC, two vehicles collided, causing one of them to overturn. The authorities only reported material damage.
During the morning, on Monseñor Romero Boulevard, heading towards Santa Tecla, near the Veranda residential area, a vehicle overturned, leaving two people injured, including a 42-year-old woman with multiple traumas.
Another incident occurred on Mariona Street, near the La Esperanza penitentiary center, where three people were run over. The lack of adequate signage and poor telephone coverage complicated communication with first responders, however, emergency services managed to treat the injured.
In Nuevo Lourdes Poniente, a motorcyclist suffered a fractured tibia after being hit by a sedan-type vehicle. An emergency team stabilized the motorcyclist before transporting him to a medical center.
In another event, a tanker truck overturned on the Los Chorros Highway, Ex-scale area, in the direction of Santa Tecla. Firefighters and Red Cross teams treated two injured people.
