Ten people injured in Tokyo train stabbing, suspect caught

Tokyo police have arrested a man who stabbed ten people with a knife on a moving commuter train in Tokyo. Nine passengers were taken to hospital with injuries. One of them was seriously injured. The tenth injured person was able to go home on his own.

After the emergency brake was pulled, the passengers ran out of the train in panic, according to eyewitnesses. In that chaos, the perpetrator managed to escape. He left his knife on the train.

The stabbing happened near the Seijogakuen station. The train in which it happened largely runs above ground, but in the part where the attack took place, the train runs underground.

The perpetrator was later arrested in a store. According to the shopkeeper, the man had bloodstains on his T-shirt and said he was tired of fleeing. The shopkeeper then called the police who arrested the man.
