The food control specialists had to close seven restaurants, two grocery stores and a bakery. the city said. The businesses can only reopen once all deficiencies have been remedied.
Pests in nine out of ten companies
Rats, mice, cockroaches: the public order office employees found pests in nine out of ten companies inspected. These became apparent through nibbled food packaging – or through their leftovers: for example mouse droppings on the dishes. At eight of the ten companies, inspectors complained about a lack of basic cleanliness, mold and poor product care.

In the first half of 2023 alone, the Frankfurt public order office carried out over 2,500 food inspections. As a result, over 120 businesses were completely or partially closed.
