The “Renew Your Micro” program is promoted by the Ministry of Transportation and financed by the Regional Government, through the resources of the Mirror Fund. The plan seeks to promote the replacement of buses that operate in public transportation services, providing a subsidy for the destruction and conversion into scrap of the machines that will be removed from circulation, being subsequently replaced by other more modern vehicles, with better technology.
In this regard, the Minister of Transportation and Telecommunications, Juan Carlos Muñoz, highlighted that “improving public transportation is improving people’s quality of life and that is what we do when we remove an old bus and incorporate a more modern one. It is not a superficial change, because the impact that this has on the lives of each of the people who use it daily is enormous. That change that is delivered is a sign of dignity and justice. Starting today, Rancagua will begin to see the first 10 RED standard electric buses circulate through its streets, taking an important step on the path to modernizing its transportation system.
