Ten died after mass shooting in supermarket – VG


A supermarket was the scene of a mass shooting in Buffalo, New York.

At least 10 people have been killed after a mass shooting on Jefferson Avenue in the city of Buffalo in the state of New York.

NBC News and the news agency AP reports on the tragedy with anonymous politicians.

The shooting took place outside and inside the Tops Friendly Market in Buffalo. A man wearing a military uniform is said to have started firing a rifle at 2.30 pm local time.

– It’s like a horror movie, but everything is real. It is so overwhelming, says a policeman to the local newspaper The Buffalo News.

The newspaper also writes that ten people must have been killed. They write that three are injured, two of them critically.

Five dead are to be found in the supermarket’s car park. Among those killed is a former police officer who was a security guard in the store.

Details about other injured and their condition are not known.

At least two rifles must be found on the spot.

In the neighborhood where the mall is located, a large proportion of the inhabitants are black Americans, writes AP.

AP has also spoken to two witnesses outside the shopping center, who according to the news agency drove into the parking lot when the perpetrator was on his way out. They describe him as a white man in his late teens or early 20s, wearing a military uniform and a black helmet.

– He stood there with his weapon against his chin. We thought, “What the hell is going on? Why does this kid have a gun to his chin? ”Says Braedyn Kephart (20).

An hour after the shooting, Buffalo police released one Twitter message that more must be injured and that the shooter is in police custody.

AP writes that the police believe that the shooter live-streamed the shooting and is investigating whether he has posted a manifesto online.

New York Governor Kathy Hochul says she is following the incident closely and is offering assistance to local authorities.
