A little over a week ago, Française des jeux (FDJ) launched an appeal to find the winner of the My Million game. With a million euros at stake. The FDJ had been looking for its winner for three months, more precisely since June 30, and there were only a few days left (until September 12, 11:59 p.m.) to come forward. “We do not know why the winner did not come forward to claim the prize,” the company explained to Le Parisien. But ultimately, this appeal, relayed in the press, made it possible to find the winner. Or rather, the winners. Because a few days before the deadline, it was not one person who came forward, but ten, a group of colleagues, explains The Parisian.
“We’ve been playing with the same colleagues for fifteen years, every month. Everyone puts in €10. It’s me who’s responsible for filling out the grids and validating the receipt at the tobacco shop. We’ve never won more than €5…” one of the ten workers from this company in the Paris region. All are aged 40 and 65. But then, how did they discover, so late, that they had the winning code? It was the film Les Tuche, with Jean-Paul Rouve and Isabelle Nanty that changed everything.

Because, Tuesday September 5, it turns out that the film (the first of four episodes) is on television again on TF1. “I love this film, I always dreamed of feeling what this family felt when they won. There, I thought about the ticket that was lying around,” one of the lucky winners recalled to Le Parisien. He goes to his tobacconist the next day and scans the ticket at the automatic terminal. He is told that he must go to the counter (this is the case for big winnings).

It was at this moment that the tobacconist told him: “Houla, you made a big profit”, without specifying what it was. The player reveals that he thought he would win €20,000, already a large sum, because, divided by ten, this implies a sum greater than their salary. The meeting is set at the FDJ without the amount being revealed, but the ten players understand that they are the lucky winners. If they don’t know what they’re going to do with the money, they want to have fun and above all play again very quickly, riding their luck.
