Tempur Sealy is no longer up to sleep: a hacker attack paralyzed the work of a mattress magnate
Has the data been stolen and will the attackers appear to clients in nightmares?
Tempur Sealy, the world’s largest supplier of mattresses and bedding, faced
with a massive cyberattack. It all happened on July 23, when security specialists were forced to turn off part of the IT systems.
“It was necessary to proactively shut down some IT systems, which led to a temporary interruption of operations. Legal advisers, cyber experts and other incident response specialists were brought in,” Chief Financial Officer Bhaskar Rao said in a report to the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission.
Tempur Sealy controls well-known brands such as Tempur, Cocoon, Sealy and Stearns & Foster. According to the results of the last quarter, representatives of the company announced record sales in the amount of $1.2 billion. In May, Tempur Sealy acquired Mattress Firm, America’s largest chain of stores, further cementing its market leadership position.
The investigation is ongoing so that the threat can be fully contained. It is not yet clear whether they were stolen
