Jakarta – Messages sent via WhatsApp can only be made temporarily, then they are automatically deleted. After it was officially announced some time ago, now users in Indonesia can try the WhatsApp Temporary Message feature.
The relevant features have been announced by WhatsApp in early November 2020 and now it is starting to be enjoyed by users around the world.
So, once the Temporary Message feature is activated, new messages sent to the chats that have been set up will disappear after seven days, making conversations feel lighter and more private.
“Why seven days?” We consider this time period to offer a sense of calm because users know the conversation is not permanent, but still practical so they don’t forget what is being discussed, “WhatsApp explained through its official statement, quoted by Tagar, Sunday, 15 November 2020.
Some WhatsApp Android users in Indonesia have received this feature in an update. If not, it’s just a matter of time because it must be given to all users. The Temporary Message function can be used in chats between users or individuals and also in WhatsApp Group, but in WhatsApp Group only admins can activate it.
Using WhatsApp’s new feature which is quite interesting is not difficult. To activate it, select and open the chat contact you want to use this feature. Then, open the personal info of the contact concerned.
Then, swipe down and you will see a Temporary Message with a clock icon next to it. Below it is the words Dead because it hasn’t been activated yet. So, access Temporary Messages and immediately there will be an explanation of this feature.
“By turning on this setting, new messages will disappear from this chat after 7 days. The recipient can still save the message outside the chat,” he wrote. Then if you want to activate, press the On button below it.
If it’s been activated, messages associated with that contact will disappear permanently after one week. In the chat room, a statement will appear that the feature has been activated. The same information will also be in the chat room of the recipient of the message.
However, messages can still be saved if you want, for example with screenshots. If auto download is active on WhatsApp, the photos and videos will still go to the cellphone storage, it’s just that the message will still disappear after a week.[]
