Currently, Timor Leste and Thailand are in first and second place in Group B with four points, followed by Laos in third place with two points.
The team that wins the Timor Leste vs Thailand match will qualify as the winner of Group B and advance to the semifinals of the 2022 AFF U-16 Cup. Meanwhile, the losing team must be willing to go down to the third position and the second position will likely be occupied by Laos.
Therefore, the team that may win the best runner-up status from Vietnam is the representative of Group C which is filled with Malaysia or Myanmar. After going through two matches in Group C, Malaysia and Myanmar are in first and second place in Group C with four points.
Meanwhile, Cambodia sits in third position with three points. Malaysia and Myanmar will qualify for the semifinals of the 2022 AFF U-16 Cup as Group C winners and best runners-up as long as they both win in the final match.

In the final match of the group phase, Malaysia met Australia, while Myanmar clashed with Cambodia. If they both win, Malaysia and Myanmar will close the group stage with a collection of seven points, as well as deny Vietnam to the semifinals AFF U-16 Cup 2022.
