At a regular briefing on the 16th, the Central Defense Response Headquarters (Bangdaebon) found 11% of confirmed patients in the metropolitan area through 144 temporary screening stations installed in Seoul, Gyeonggi, and Incheon over the past month. It has been announced that 130 inspection stations will be extended until the 14th of next month when the period (2.1-14) ends.
There are 52 temporary screening offices in Seoul, 70 in Gyeonggi and 8 in Incheon.
According to Bang Dae-bon, 3,231, or 11%, of the 27,000,911 confirmed cases in the metropolitan area over the past month were confirmed at the temporary screening office in the metropolitan area.
It means that one out of 10 confirmed patients in the metropolitan area was positive at the temporary screening clinic.
In the metropolitan area, since December 14, last year, temporary screening offices installed in stations or plazas with large floating populations are providing anonymous tests to anyone regardless of symptoms.
The operation of a temporary screening laboratory also greatly increased the total amount of inspection.
The total inspection volume in the metropolitan area over the past month was 1722,000, which was 4.7 times that of the previous month (368,000). In addition, the number of tests conducted at the temporary screening laboratory accounted for 64% of the total metropolitan area inspection volume.
Daebon Bang said, “The convenience and accessibility of diagnostic tests were improved through temporary screening tests in the metropolitan area, and the spread of infection to the community was suppressed by expanding the test volume and early detection of confirmed cases, leading to the establishment of a voluntary temporary screening test center in the non-metropolitan area. There was an outcome,” he explained.
Currently, 59 temporary screening tests are in operation in 9 metropolitan cities and provinces in the non-metropolitan area.

Half of the confirmed cases (49%) found at the temporary screening laboratory were those with epidemiological associations such as contact with previous confirmed cases, and it was counted that they voluntarily visited the laboratory due to concerns about infection.
Therefore, in order to operate the temporary screening test in the future, “If epidemiological associations with the confirmed patient are confirmed, in order to prevent the (epidemiological investigation) delay due to anonymous tests, first guide to the local public health center screening clinic and introduce a method of separating from general asymptomatic testers. Daebon Bang also decided to introduce a mobile questionnaire system that can be used in both anonymous and real-name inspections while each local government integrates and abolishes inspection offices in consideration of regional epidemic conditions and inspection results.
