Temporary restriction of counter opening hours – Polizeinews.ch

Staff shortages are forcing the Winterthur city police to temporarily restrict the opening hours of the advertising counter.

From September 30, 2024, the counter will be closed on Tuesday afternoons and Friday mornings. The parking permit counter, however, will remain open. Urgent reports will continue to be accepted around the clock.

Due to the ongoing tense staffing situation, the opening hours of the Winterthur City Police will have to be restricted from September 30, 2024. This means that the reporting desk will be temporarily closed on Tuesday afternoons and Friday mornings. As soon as the staffing situation in the affected task force eases, the city police will return to their usual opening hours.

The new opening hours of the advertising counter are as follows:

  • Monday: 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
  • Tuesday: 8:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
  • Wednesday: 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
  • Thursday: 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
  • Friday: 12.00 to 17.00

The parking permit counter will remain open as before from Monday to Friday, 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Urgent reports will continue to be accepted 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, and the city police will patrol and intervene without restriction to ensure the safety of the Winterthur population.

With the digital police station “Swiss ePolice” reports of simple thefts, damage to property, loss of license plates or requests to purchase weapons can be easily recorded online and independently for 24 hours. For this reason, the public is advised of this form of reporting wherever possible.

The city police are working hard to optimize the counter situation with various measures in order to be able to return to the usual opening hours as quickly as possible. They would like to thank the people of Winterthur for their understanding.
