Temporary bridge in German Linnich severely damaged by truck [+foto’s]

LINNICH – A Moldovan driver drove his tractor-trailer over a temporary bridge on Rurstraße in Linnich, Germany, on Thursday evening. The result: estimated material damage in the six-figure range.

Around 5:30 p.m., the 27-year-old driver drove illegally onto the temporary bridge. He drove over the concrete barriers on the bridge and became stuck. His vehicle had to be recovered with heavy equipment.

The bridge, which is only approved for vehicles with a maximum weight of 7.5 tons, was loaded by the truck with more than 30 tons (the truck was loaded with approximately 24 tons of corrugated cardboard) and was seriously damaged.

The bridge is closed until further notice because a constructor must check the stability of the bridge.
