Tempi – Marinakis: The merger was an operational necessity – 2024-03-05 19:48:18

After the Deputy Minister of Climate Crisis and Civil Protection Christos Triandopoulos, who was asked yesterday (1/3) in the Parliament whether he gave an order for a bombardment at the site of the Tempe tragedy and denied it, today the government representative Pavlos Marinakis returns to the issue.

Speaking on the ANT1 show “Studio with a View”, Mr. Marinakis emphasized that the proceedings of the Justice are ongoing and we should keep the due distances in order to let it do its work.

“First of all, it is a tragic accident that has shocked us all. There are no more or less sensitive parents, more or less sensitive people, and there are no less or more important tragic accidents. For us, Tempe was a day that cannot be surpassed. Of course, for some people who lost their relatives, their children, it was the day when time stopped. And there is absolute respect. And the first thing you have to do when you face such situations is to bow your head and listen to both their requests and their anger,” he said.

With regard to the issue of the bottling, he said that Mr. Agorastos never named Mr. Triandopoulos as the person who gave the order, which he categorically denies.

“First of all, Mr. Agorastos never said that he received an order from Mr. Triandopoulos. Second, Mr. Triandopoulos clearly denied that he gave any instruction. What I can tell you is that it was in the context of operational actions to make it the best possible – what we said about the cranes,” he said.

“What I know and it is dictated by common sense is that the operatives had a very great need to find as many wounded as possible and unfortunately to collect people who were dead under the wagons, to bring cranes. It was therefore deemed operationally necessary to take action so that the cranes could lift the wagons and a specific procedure was carried out. What do I want to say? There is no serious information so farno evidence – the Judiciary is doing its job and obviously if there is any evidence and it comes out here we will be there to comment on it – indicating that this was done for some cover-up. It was a business action of the peoplewho were working in the field to be able to proceed with a difficult, tragic process – which no one wants to do and face these images – in the best possible way,” emphasized Mr. Marinakis.

Asked if there were any political responsibilities, he again referred to the ongoing judicial process, saying that it “affects everyone and without any asterisk”.
