According to information, the investigator will proceed with the appointment of a new expert, after the differences that have arisen on several critical issues between the findings of the technical consultant appointed by relatives of the victims, and the expert appointed initially by the judiciary.

In particular, according to the same information, the appellant investigator will appoint a new expert from the National Technical University of Athens to answer specific questions, mainly in relation to the explosion that accompanied the collision of the two trains.

At the same time, requests have been submitted to the appellant investigator by relatives of the victims for the immediate shipment of the flammable material to a special laboratory in Canada that can safely certify what it was and whether it contributed to the tragedy, a request that is being examined by the judicial officer, as well as the one concerning videos, parts of which have been erased, making it difficult to fully capture the course of the commercial train. For these controversial videos, the investigative investigation is oriented to send them soon to a special laboratory in London that can recover all the deleted data.
However, in relation to the start time of the trial for the tragedy of Tempe, sources from the judiciary said that, according to estimates, the criminal trial may start soon as, based on the new Codes, the case file will be referred directly to the Tripartite Criminal Appeals Court without the mediation of the parliament’s procedural filter on the basis of which until now the judiciary decides on the impeachment or not of all the accused.
