Despite many fine words and countless promises, female representatives in top positions in Linz companies or organizations are still hard to find. A short excerpt shows: We are still miles away from even approximate equality between men and women.
Even organizations in which it should actually be easy to fall back on sufficiently competent women have a shockingly low proportion of women in top positions. The Linz Cityring board, for example, is purely a men’s club, as is the LIWEST management or the board of Energie AG. Even the largest Linz company, voestalpine, is 100% “women-free” on its six-member board.
There is only one woman on the ten-person supervisory board of the state and city-owned Linz Airport GmbH, as well as on the supervisory board of the Linz Tourism Association. The situation in the largest Linz housing cooperative, GWG, is not much better – in management there, six (or 75%) of eight management positions are held by men.
And THE Linz flagship company, Linz AG? Six of the seven board positions there are male. Sorry, but that’s almost embarrassing, Linz!
Cityring Linz board: 100% men
4 men / 0 women
Management board voestalpine: 100% men
6 men / 0 women
Executive Board of Linz AG: 85.8% men
6 men / 1 woman
Flughafen Linz GesmbH Supervisory Board: 90% men
9 men / 1 woman
LIWEST GF + department head: 72.7% men
8 men / 3 women
(GF alone completely “women-free”)
Linz Tourist Association Supervisory Board: 85.8%
6 men / 1 woman
Management GWG Linz: 75% men
6 men / 2 women
Particularly shameful is the situation in the sports organizations, which should actually have equality in the DNA: Both with the black UNION- (91.3% men), as well as with the red ASKÖ- (81.8%) and the ASVÖ- State management (100%), the men are mostly or entirely to themselves – what is that supposed to mean?
Sportunion OÖ country management: 91.3% men
21 men / 2 women
ASKÖ OÖ Board of Directors: 81.8% men
9 men / 2 women
ASVOÖ board: 100% men
6 men / 0 women
Upper Austrian Athletics Association Presidium: 100% men
5 men / 0 women
Upper Austrian Ski Association Presidium: 100% men
4 men / 0 women
