Television union requested massive and priority vaccination of personnel because it is essential

The Argentine Union of Television, Telecommunications, Audiovisual, Interactive and Data Services (Satsaid) today requested to the health authorities “the massive and priority vaccination” of the workers of the activity for being “essential”.

“Failure to include these workers urgently in the national vaccination plan could affect the continuity of care of the internet networks in the main companies of the country and also the broadcasting of programs due to lack of personnel,” argued Satsaid, in a statement.

The national leadership of the union, led by Horacio Arreceygor, asked the Health portfolio to “include these workers as a priority in the immunization calendar in the face of the second wave of the serious coronavirus pandemic.”

A union document explained that, from the first day of compulsory social isolation, on March 20, 2020, television personnel were declared “essential” and continued to carry out their tasks “tirelessly”, but from the second wave of Covid-19 “the daily record of infections in the union grew dramatically in a few weeks.”

The union had declared a national strike of two hours per shift for last Thursday in all open channels, producers and signals for joint claims, for which the Ministry of Labor issued a working period of mandatory conciliation for 15 days. (Télam)
