The classes of the program #EstudoEmCasa of RTP Memória will return in the next school year and will include secondary education, but only on the ‘online’ platform, this Wednesday was announced.
The information was presented this Wednesday by the Minister of Education and the President of RTP, at a joint press conference at the headquarters of the public station, in Lisbon.
In the first month of the school year, starting on September 14th, students will be able to attend classes transmitted during the 3rd period at RTP Memória, to accompany the work of consolidating learning that will be done in schools. The new classes start to be broadcast on the channel on October 19th.
In the first months of #EstudoEmCasa, created by the Ministry of Education in partnership with RTP in the context of the covid-19 pandemic, only classes were recorded for basic education, from the 1st to the 9th grade. As of this year, RTP studios will also receive secondary school teachers, but for now these classes will only be available on the RTP Play ‘online’ platform.
For the remaining levels of education, classes can be followed at RTP Memória, as in the 3rd year.
Another novelty is the separation of the contents of the 1st and 2nd years, which last year had joint classes, an amendment that the Minister of Education considered important, since “1st year children have another type vicissitudes and needs “.
Next year there will also be a new block of non-curricular content, dedicated to the organization of autonomous work, which the three months of teaching proved to be, in the minister’s opinion, so important.
#EstudoEmCasa went live on April 20, at a time when schools were closed and students had online classes, with the aim of serving as a complementary resource and helping to minimize the difficulties of many students in accessing the distance learning.
However, the proposal of RTP is that this project goes beyond the context of the pandemic and that the educational contents become permanent in the programming.
“What is created in an emergency situation, but has permanent merits, deserves to be continued and deserves to be made a constant part of RTP’s offer”, underlined the station’s president, Gonçalo Reis.
Also for the Minister of Education, this tool is an asset, which goes beyond the current context of the covid-19 pandemic and distance learning and which will serve, above all, to “assist classroom teaching”.
“It is important that more and more educational resources are produced, that can be broadcast on television, that can be multiplatform, and what we are doing here is just that, that #EstudoEmCasa lasts through time”, underlined the minister.
Tiago Brandão Rodrigues recognized, however, that, not being a “resource” solution, these classes are part of a solution “that follows the teaching-learning course” and, therefore, can be used in mixed or distance learning. , although face-to-face should be the rule whenever possible.
The grid of #EstudoEmCasa at RTP Memória, which next year will also have transmission of some blocks at RTP Internacional, is not yet known, but basic education classes should occupy the channel between 09:00 and 16:30.
