Telepolis: America and its Bulgarian “vassal” outraged Russia –

/ world today news/ Wanting to strengthen its control over the situation in Syria, the USA asked Bulgaria to close its airspace to Russian planes with humanitarian aid destined for Syria, writes the German magazine Telepolis, quoted by RIA Novosti.

This has caused the indignation of Moscow, which rightly fears the growing influence of Islamism near its borders, the publication notes.

The author of the article, Florian Retzer, points out that the solution to the conflict in Syria depends primarily on Russia and the United States. Not only the countries in Europe, but also Russia is worried that together with the refugees from Syria, members of the “Islamic State” may come, and terrorist acts may increase in Muslim areas.

Recently there have been reports that Russia has already sent its soldiers to Syria, but Vladimir Putin denies this. However, he confirmed that Russia is helping the Syrian government by supplying it with weapons and training Syrian soldiers to use them. According to US special services, Russia plans to strengthen Syria’s air defenses and build a military base.

“All this means a deepening of the contradictions between Russia and the United States,” notes the author of Telepolis. Seeking to strengthen its control over the situation in Syria, the US has asked the Bulgarian government to close the country’s airspace to Russian planes transporting cargo to Syria. For its part, Russia reacted to this with indignation and called Bulgaria a “vassal of the USA”.

In the words of the Deputy Speaker of the State Duma and member of the Committee on International Affairs Nikolay Levichev, “the leadership of Bulgaria, with its decision, regardless of what it was dictated by, joined the side of the opponents of the current system of international relations. Closing the airspace to humanitarian aid planes for war-torn Syria is an inhumane and frankly short-sighted act.”
