KIEV – A recorded phone conversation reveals a soldier’s wife Russia gave permission and even had her husband rape Ukrainian women during the invasion.

Earlier this week, Kiev security forces released an audio clip of the conversation between the couple, who have now been identified as Roman Bykovsky and his wife Olga Bykovskaya by Radio Liberty.

In the recording, the woman, allegedly Bykovskaya, can be heard telling the man that she had permission to rape Ukrainian women while she was serving in the Russian invasion force, as long as he didn’t tell her in detail and was using contraceptives.

The shocking 30-second footage was released on April 12 when Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelensky accused Russian troops of hundreds of rapes including sexual assaults against minors in his country.

The audio clip shared by the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) opens with the title “Security SERVICE PREVENTION: The wives of the Russian colonizers allowed their men to rape Ukrainian women.”

A woman’s voice, believed to be Olga Bykovskaya, is then heard: “So yeah, do it there,” he said. Then it became clear what he agreed with. “Ukrainian women over there. Rape them. Yeah.”

“Don’t say anything, got it,” he added, laughing sheepishly.

A man’s voice—which was believed to be Roman Bykovsky’s voice, was then heard. “Uh-huh,” he said. “So I have to rape and tell you nothing?” he asked, explaining that his wife gave his permission.
