For three weeks, residents of Morey-Saint-Denis have been deprived of telephone and internet networks. A situation that continues, and which particularly affects tourism professionals during the summer period.
“I hesitated to place the desk in the middle of the courtyard, to be able to pick up calls”jokes in a bitter tone Samuel Lenoir, the manager of the equestrian center Moutain farm, in Morey-Saint-Denis, in Côte-d’Or.
For two weeks, he has no longer had a telephone network or the Internet to receive reservations from his customers.
In question, a telephone cable damaged on July 27 which deprived the upper part of the village of the network. A not so rare situation due to the layout of the installation, which is often torn off. Since the beginning of the year, three cuts have already been reported.
50% of lost calls
Today, Samuel Lenoir estimates that he misses about 50% of his calls. “In season, customers call once, twice. If they don’t have an answer, they call someone else”he says. “To book, it’s true that when we called, we often got an answering machine”confirms Mehmet, one of the visitors who came to the center that day.
The payment terminal also no longer works. “The first distributor is six kilometers awayannoys the manager of the Mountain farm. It’s unprofessional, because people are there to relax“.
An intervention by the operator announced on August 15
And he’s not the only one affected. A little further in the town, Jean-Pierre Duprey, owner of the guest rooms of La côte rotie, specifies that he has not had any calls on his landline for three weeks. “Only the regulars call me on my cell phone”he points out.
The operator announced to Samuel Lenoir an intervention on August 15. “I don’t know if technicians will come that day…”reacts the interested party.
