– My family and I ended our TV subscription with Telenor, he says to Nettavisen.
December 3 last year it was breach in the negotiations between Telenor and TV 2. Then the TV screens went black for everyone who had access to TV 2’s channels through Telenor. This created strong reactions from customers. The two parties did not reach an agreement until 21 January this year.
– We were without TV 2 for almost two months, and the compensation we received was completely foolish. It could have been higher, and gone automatically. We pay almost 700 kroner a month, and received only 100 kroner in compensation, says Myrlund, and adds:
– I think it’s completely hair-raising!
Myrlund is one of many who have contacted Nettavisen in connection with the break in the negotiations between Telenor and TV 2. They have been frustrated and tired of black TV screens. Several have also expressed a wish that they would like to cancel the Telenor subscription, but for various reasons this has not been possible.
– Tried to resign
Although he thinks it was good of TV 2 and give Telenor customers one month free with TV 2 Play, they had to pay for the subscription for the remaining time while the players did not agree.
This conflict meant that Myrlund and his family had enough. He says that they were also without TV signals for a period this autumn. Both in september and October There were problems with T-We, which is Telenor’s “smart TV service”, which means that you can both watch live TV and stream programs in an archive.
– We had an error situation in week 36 in September, which mainly affected TV services such as Start Forfra and Ukesarkiv. A few also had problems with Live-TV, where we then established an alternative solution for access to the TV channels for these customers during the period in question, says communications manager Anders Krokan in Telenor, to Nettavisen.
Myrlund and his family had had enough after the problems this autumn and during the break in negotiations with TV 2 this winter. They decided to cancel the Telenor subscription.
– We tried to resign, but it was not easy. We sent Telenor messages three times, but were told to call. We did not get through until we had tried several times, says Myrlund.
– It is bad of such a large player that it should be so difficult to cancel the subscription. It is a talentless way of running a shop, he says.

Think someone should stretch further
The family finally had their subscription canceled, and have now switched to the power service Strim.
– In 2022, almost everyone has access to the network, and then Strim works well. We also come out better in terms of price than we did with Telenor, says Myrlund.
He is clear that breaches in the negotiations between Telenor and TV 2 affect customers to a great extent. He is disappointed that it took so long to agree.
– Someone should stretch further. It was a large percentage of Norway’s population that was without TV 2, a channel many people watch, he says.

– Understand that someone lost patience
Telenor has been presented with the criticism in the case.
– It’s boring reading. At the same time, we are painfully aware that the patience of our customers has been severely tested during the period when we were not allowed to provide them with a full-fledged TV offer. It is completely understandable that someone lost patience, says communications manager Anders Krokan.
He says that they understand that losing the TV 2 content is frustrating for those who watch a lot of these channels.
When asked if they can understand that someone reacts to the fact that the compensation was not better than it was, he answers that all customers have been able to choose between financial compensation or extra points. With the extra points, Telenor customers have had the opportunity to choose other TV channels or streaming services during the period when the TV 2 content was gone in December and January.
Respects the dismissals
– What do you think about someone choosing to cancel the Telenor subscription?
– We understand that many have been frustrated during the wait. We are now very pleased with the agreement we have with TV 2, and all the good content we can offer customers in the future. That someone chooses to leave after the situation that arose, we are of course sorry for, but we respect that some choose other solutions, says Krokan.

However, Telenor cannot say how many TV subscribers they have lost in the last two months. They can only divide the customer numbers every quarter.
– What do you think about Myrlund finding it so difficult to cancel the subscription? He claims that it is not possible to cancel it online, only by phone to you.
– It is possible to cancel the TV subscription also online with us, both via “My Pages” and a separate contact form which is on the website, says Krokan.
