Telenet will end game website 9lives – Gaming – News in February 2021

Telenet stops with 9lives. The popular associated forum also goes black. The game website can no longer be visited by January 31 of next year, although the administrators are working on an alternative.

The website writes in a message that the website will be unplugged from January 31, 2021. Parent company Telenet is shutting down ‘for strategic and financial reasons’. Both ‘the covid period and the necessary additional technical investments’ would be the cause. From the end of January, the website 9lives.be and the forum no longer to visit. All social media accounts will also go offline. The editor-in-chief advises users to take measures such as establishing contacts outside of the forum, which was a very popular part of the site.

The 9lives site was founded in 2001 and was then still called games.telenet.be. In 2004 the name was changed to 9lives. It was the largest Belgian game website. The makers say they want to make a restart independently with a new website, BeyondGaming. Little is known about this. The makers say they want to share more information about the initiative in the coming weeks.
