The Belgian provider Telenet will stop using the Yelo app in “a few months”. With this app, customers can watch TV with their smartphone. Customers with Digibox or Digicorder switch to the Telenet TV app, which has some limitations compared to the Yelo app.
Of says the supplier you want to migrate all TV apps into one app, i.e. the Telenet TV app. According to Telenet, there is no longer any confusion for the customer as to which app should be installed. Furthermore, the company no longer needs to develop functions for multiple apps.
In the coming months, Telenet will inform customers when they should change. Telenet will send emails and push messages to customers who are now using the Yelo app. The termination of Yelo will happen in stages, which means that some users can use the app longer than others.
With both the Yelo app and the Telenet TV app, customers can watch TV, manage and view recordings, and stream to TV via AirPlay or Chromecast. There are differences. The Telenet TV app has no connection with Digibox or Digicorder, while the Yelo app does. It is therefore not possible to watch a TV program via Digibox or Digicorder and then continue watching with the Telenet TV app. Users should empty instead. This is possible in the Yelo app. Favorites are also not synchronized and programs ordered via Digicorder or Digibox can only be viewed via that decoder, but not in the app.
Other differences are that the recordings scheduled through the Telenet TV app remain available for thirty days instead of sixty. Also, the Telenet TV app does not yet support 1080p, as is the case with the Yelo app. Telenet says that customers who do not want to say goodbye to these functions can switch to the Telenet TV box for free and thus get back some functions, including the synchronization between the app and the decoder.
