Telemundo 47 Receives National GLAAD Journalism Award in Spanish – NBC New York (47)

NEW JERSEY — Recognized as one of the industry’s highest honors for fair, accurate and inclusive portrayals of LGBTQ people and issues, Telemundo 47/WNJU was awarded a national award GLAAD Media Award for his news special broadcast in June 2021 “LGBTQ Pride: 52 Years of Struggle and Evolution.” Since its inception in 1990, the GLAAD Media Awards have grown to become the world’s most visible annual LGBTQ awards show, sending powerful messages of acceptance to audiences around the world. “LGBTQ Pride: 52 Years of Struggle and Evolution,” a five-part news series featuring a wide range of guests and experts, was hosted by Telemundo 47 news anchor Odalys Molina and news reporters Eliecer Marte and Carlos Zapata. The series told the story of the LGBTQ rights movement, representation in politics, the importance of a safe and accepted home life, legal victories, and a look at LGBTQ people in the arts, with a particular emphasis on artists from the New York dance scene.

The award was announced at the 33rd Annual GLAAD Media Awards, held Saturday night in Los Angeles.
