Telekom has activated 36 new 5G antennas in Hanover and Bremen. These are distributed across the city at different locations and transmit over the 3.6 GHz frequency.
5G creates on this wavelength Transfer rates of up to 1 Gbit / s and more and is mainly used in locations with a lot of public traffic. In addition to Hanover and Bremen, the 5G network is currently available in 11 other German cities: Berlin, Bonn, Darmstadt, Dortmund, Düsseldorf, Frankfurt a. M., Hamburg, Cologne, Leipzig, Munich and Nuremberg.

Telekom armed 18 new “high-speed 5G antennas” in Hanover. These are located at six locations in the urban areas of Calenberger Neustadt, Mitte and Vahrenwald-List. There are also 18 such new antennas in Bremen. These are at six locations in the urban areas of Buntentor, Hastedt, Neuenland, Osterholz (2x) and Überseestadt.
Telekom also uses the 2.1 GHz frequency band for its 5G expansion. The physical properties of this frequency band enable a long range.
Over 45,000 antennas 5G capable
In Germany, a total of more than 45,000 antennas are 5G-capable. This means that more than 4,500 cities and municipalities in Germany have 5G. Around 55 million people can use the new wireless standard theoretically use. The current expansion status and the 5G supply at a certain address can be viewed at Telekom.
