Telekom competitor wins landline test – the ranking

Several providers compete for the favor of customers on the fixed network market. A current study now shows where users can expect top results.

Internet access, web TV and voice quality: Which provider offers the best overall package here? This was investigated by the 2020 fixed network test on the “connect” business site. The result: In the current test, provider 1 & 1 dominated, displacing O2, the test winner of 2019.

According to “connect”, 1 & 1 was able to convince with “short connection times” and “outstanding performance” with high-speed internet. In its conclusion, the specialist portal awards 902 of 1,000 possible points for 1 & 1. Deutsche Telekom follows in second place with 889 points. Telekom is “the best provider” in the language discipline, writes “connect”. However, the Bonn company “loses in the high-speed Internet measurements”.

In third and fourth place were O2 / Telefónica (882 points) and Vodafone (842 points). O2 can convince with its services in the Internet category. According to “connect”, the crowdsourcing category is “only in the middle”. At Vodafone, “connect” criticizes that a tested cable connection came under pressure at full load and an upload collapsed.

Regional providers also tested

“connect” differentiated in its evaluation between national and regional providers. EWE (Energieversorgung Weser-Ems) dominates the regional providers with 909 points. Here, “connect” praises, among other things, the short connection setup and the high-speed Internet. Web services are more negative.

M-net came in second with 906 points. One reason for this is the crowdsourcing offer. Here, however, “the people of Munich only rank in the middle,” writes “connect”. Third and fourth place in the “connect Festnetztest 2020” came from regional providers Net Cologne with 878 points and Pyür / Tele Columbus with 773 points.

“Connect” had broadband analyzes carried out by Zafaco for the results. Using automatic tests, Zafaco carried out around 4 million measurements in 52 cities in the categories of telephony, data transmission, web services and web TV, writes “connect”.
