A restart of the Premier League seems to have come a step closer. According to The Telegraph, the clubs will probably agree to Project Restart on Monday.
In that case, group training will resume on Tuesday and the clubs will have five weeks to work towards a resumption of the season on Friday, June 19. Chelsea and relegation candidates Watford, Aston Villa and Brighton & Hove Albion initially had their reservations, but according to The Telegraph, there is good hope that those clubs will also agree. In any case, the government has already given the green light to organize competitions without an audience from 1 June.
The clubs still have to consult about the playing locations: at the moment the question is whether they will play in their own stadiums or on neutral ground. According to The Telegraph, this agenda item will be discussed on Friday, depending on how Monday’s consultation goes. Another point of attention is a possible shortening of the competition. The clubs do not yet know how they want to finish the competition in case not all remaining matches can be played.
