Speaking of myths, how the hell do you get to this? Pavel Durov is 100% the owner of Telegram and that is simply written down on paper. Telegram Messenger LLP (registered as a PO Box company in UK, effectively paper domicile in Belize) has been owned and distributed in the EU since its inception by, Telegraph Inc.; a Durov shell company from Belize onwards TELEGRAM UK HOLDINGS LIMITED in TELEGRAM SYSTEMS LLP. Telegraph Inc. is a shell company owned by Durov. Durov had established several such shells as the owner of Telegram in money laundering countries Panama, Belize and the British Virgin Islands; such as, for example Dogged Labs Ltd. of which you can also see that it owned Telegram Messenger LLP. Also Telegram Messenger INC. from the British Virgin Islands, also from Durov, was thrown into the mix of Telegram owners and shells controlled by Telegram owners. (Do you follow? It’s a huge knot of small businesses in super-cool jurisdictions / tax havens, all owned by Durov.) At TELEGRAM SYSTEMS LLP you see firstly, a few of those companies back as owners but there is also Durov just neat as the sole and 100% owner: https://beta.companieshou…-with-significant-control (This company was registered in the UK and had a postal address in the United Arab Emirates.). We also see at TELEGRAM UK HOLDINGS LIMITED Durov back as 100% owner and the only “person with significant control”. And just for the lazy people who don’t like to click on links to follow the paper trail, the quote from those last pages of the filings:

Right to appoint and remove directors

Durov is the sole owner and has always had almost complete management power over Telegram (not at first, but some backstabbing and litigation later.) And still does today. However, those companies in the UK, whose history you can still see here and there, have since been closed due to the upcoming Brexit. I do want to see where they have been incorporated again in the meantime if necessary, although it is always difficult because in principle Durov always comes up with vague names for his companies (I mean, if I had not seen it in the filings, I would never came to “Dogged Labs” ).

But it is very obvious: putting Durov as nothing more than a sponsor that has nothing to do with Telegram is pure nonsense. He is 100% the owner, 100% shareholder, the only one who can make real decisions when it comes down to it and also just chief marketing.

How you can come to the conclusion that Durov has never had any control, does not own Telegram and only acted as a “donor” is really a mystery to me and I would like to see sources for that, because as you can see from the paper trail that I just showed you it seems tad very strong that you have been misinformed or misled by someone.
