Telegram is now offering an update to its iOS application which notably adds support for reactions. It had been teased a short time ago, it is now a reality.
Feedback for messages on Telegram
A double tap on a message allows you to have a quick reaction. The thumbs up emoji (????) is the default. It is, however, possible to change it by going to Settings> Stickers & Emoji> Quick Reaction. You can then choose what your default emoji reaction will be when you double-tap a message.
It is possible to have other emojis in the form of reactions. To do this, just keep your finger pressed on a message. A list will appear, you just have to choose the reaction you prefer in your Telegram conversation.
The reactions are always active in the private exchanges. In Groups and Channels, admins decide whether reactions are enabled and choose which reaction emojis are available in the chat.
A spoiler mode in place
In addition to the reactions, Telegram is adding a spoiler mode. As the name may suggest, this allows text to be hidden to avoid spoiling the content. This can be particularly useful in a group conversation when not everyone has seen a certain series or film.
To activate the mode, select your text, choose the B / I / U option then select “Spoiler”. Your message will appear blurred in the conversation. People who want to read it will only have to touch it with their finger.
QR Codes and translation available
We can also mention the possibility of generating QR Codes. This allows you to quickly scan a QR Code to add a person, a group, a channel or even a bot. It is accessible in the settings, by touching the icon at the top left.
Finally, the Telegram update brings the possibility of translating messages. To do this, all you have to do is keep your finger pressed on a message in a language other than your own then choose the “Translate” option. This requires having an iPhone running iOS 15 or an iPad running iPadOS 15 because Telegram uses Apple’s translator.
Telegram is available for download on the App Store for iPhone and iPad.
