Telegram has been one of the most popular instant messengers since its debut nine years ago, making a name for itself by offering multiple features such as end-to-end encryption, stickers, editing options, secret chats, and more. ahead of its competitors. While the app is currently free, Telegram on Friday confirmed plans to introduce a “Premium” mode with additional features for users.

The rumor of a Telegram Premium offer had been circulating for a few weeks, it is now confirmed by the founder of Telegram, Pavel Durov, who shared some details on how Telegram Premium works.
According to Durov, the Premium subscription was created with users asking Telegram to “raise the current limits even further”. But as the platform founder explains, this involves high server costs. Along with additional features, Mr. Durov claims that Telegram Premium will offer more “speed and resources”. Premium users will also receive new free features first.
After some thought, we realized that the only way to allow our most discerning fans to get more while keeping the existing features free is to make those higher limits a paid option. That’s why we are launching Telegram Premium this month, a subscription plan that allows everyone to acquire additional features, speed and resources. It will also allow users to support Telegram and join the club of the first to benefit from the new features.
What advantages?
The first question is about extra features. For now, Durov revealed that subscribers to Telegram Premium will be able to send “extra-large files”, which includes documents and media, but will also have access to animated reactions and exclusive stickers. Of course, free users will still be able to see the documents, reactions and stickers sent by Premium users.
What price ?
The subscription price has not been communicated, but it should not be long since the launch is scheduled for this month of June. However, Pavel Durov assures that all current Telegram features will remain free, and many new free features are still planned in the future.
