Telegram finally following in the footsteps of WhatsApp and Instagram by rolling out the feature Stories. The feature that shows ephemeral alias content can disappear after a certain period of time will be launched next month.
Through several uploads on his personal channel, Telegram CEO Pavel Durov said many users had requested the Stories feature on Telegram for years, but he and the company refused because Stories were everywhere.
Telegram has finally changed its mind and listened to the requests of its users. But the Stories feature on Telegram is likely to have more options for customization than other platforms.
Stories feature in Telegram will be displayed in the form of circles above the chat list, similar to how Stories appear in the Instagram application. Telegram users can control who is allowed to see their Stories, for example for the public, for certain contacts, or Close Friends.
Users can also add captions and links to Stories and tag other users. Telegram users can also share photos and videos taken using the front and rear cameras simultaneously, much like posting on the BeReal platform.
If a user doesn’t want to see Stories from a particular person, they can drag that contact to the ‘Hidden’ list. Users can also display Stories permanently on their profile, but they can still control the level of privacy for each post, as quoted from Engadget, Wednesday (28/6/2023).
Perhaps the most interesting of the Stories features in Telegram is that the user is free to set when his Stories will disappear. Users can choose to have their Stories disappear in 24 hours like other platforms, but Telegram also provides options for six, 12 or 48 hours.
Durov said Telegram has already been testing the Stories feature internally and is in the final testing phase. Telegram plans to release this feature in July.
