Telegram founder Pavel Durov asked Forbes not to call him a Russian businessman – details – World – tsn.ua

The representative of the businessman noted that he had long since left the Russian Federation and was not going to return.

Ex-general director of the Russian social network VKontakte and one of the founders of the Telegram messenger Pavel Durov does not want to be listed as a Russian businessman in Forbes.

He made a request to the journal writes Telegram channel “Only to anyone”.

As a representative of Durov noted, he left the Russian Federation many years ago and is not going to return.

“Omitting all the tantrums, only the facts: he left really a long time ago, settled in Dubai and does not plan to return. Well, about the timeliness of the statement, this is already a trend, where to go,” Durov’s representative said.

By the way, according to Forbes, the fortune of Pavel Durov in 2021 reached $17.2 billion.

Note that in 2013, Pavel Durov was fired from his own company VKontakte, because he refused to provide the FSB of the Russian Federation with personal data of Ukrainian users.

“I refused to comply with these demands because it would mean a betrayal of our Ukrainian users. After that, I was fired from the company I founded, and I was forced to leave Russia. I lost my company and my home, but I would do it again – without hesitation,” Durov assured.

Also, earlier Durov said about the war in Ukraine that “this tragic conflict is personal both for him and for Telegram.” The businessman has many relatives in Ukraine, and his mother is from Kyiv.

Durov left Russia in 2014. He currently lives in Dubai, and in 2021 Durov received French citizenship.
