Telegram ban in Brazil: controversial messenger now gets a deadline – network policy

After ordering a nationwide ban on Telegram in Brazil, the Supreme Court on Saturday gave the messenger app a 24-hour grace period to comply with court orders and avoid a blockage. The court justified the ban by saying that Telegram did not comply with orders to remove disinformation. Right-wing President Jair Bolsonaro sharply criticized the decision.
