Telecompaper: Tele2 increased prices for all subscriptions to Unlimited – Tablets and telephones – News

For me it is very simple: if I take out a subscription, I am committed to it for a year. My smartphone will hopefully last another year, but the battery is deteriorating faster and faster and replacing it quickly costs half the purchase price of the device because it is made so repair-unfriendly. iFixit estimates a time of 50 minutes to an hour, with twenty steps in five sections, and I don’t want to screw that up and be without a phone. I’ve only had the device for two and a half years and would like to use it for a while for environmental reasons, but once I have to charge it consistently twice a day, it gets a new life somewhere second-hand and I want to arrange a replacement.

That’s why I’m waiting to take out a subscription so that I can use the device advantage that providers use as a lure. You have monthly subscriptions that can be canceled, but they are usually just as expensive as my current subscription, so I only end up bothering myself by switching.

That said, I’ve seen people pay over $20 a month for anything like 4GB of data because they’ve never bothered to look at alternatives. I’ll keep an eye on the prices a little more closely than that.
