(Elbil24): Mercedes-Benz EQS is the company’s new techno bomb. This is where you will find all the innovations, and now it is approaching launch. From 17 August, the first models can be ordered. In this connection, the importer has now released the prices of the first two models, EQS 450+ and EQS 580 4Matic – the latter with two electric motors and four-wheel drive.
The price for the EQS 450+ starts at 935,000 kroner, while the big brother 580 4Matic for a starting price of 1,162,000 kroner.
-Both cars are unusually well equipped from the start, and we have incorporated some typical equipment for the Norwegian market in the price, says communications director Audun Hermansen in Mercedes-Benz Norway to Elbil24.
He thinks you get a brilliantly nice car from 1.1 – 1.4 million kroner. It is nevertheless known that typical customers of cars in this class do not turn over the crown when they buy a car, and it is not at all unusual with additional equipment for 25-30 percent of the car’s price.

Well equipped
Air suspension becomes standard on all models, and active light control – where the car itself dazzles the areas of the road where oncoming traffic comes – is also standard.
The same is so-called four-wheel steering, where the rear wheels can be angled up to 4.5 degrees.
The EQS 450 + gets a screen package with a 12.8-inch screen in the center console, while the EQS 580 4 Matic gets the brand’s new Hyperscreen, where up to three screens are hidden behind a common glass surface, and gives the impression that the entire dashboard is in practice a large screen . Mercedes also lists adaptive cruise control, 360-degree camera, navigation and keyless operation as other standard equipment.
Large battery, small air resistance
The other specifications of the car have been known for some time, such as that the range for the two-wheel drive version is stated to be a staggering 780 kilometers, if you choose the largest battery pack of 107.8 kWh. The battery also has a so-called NMC811 chemistry, where the proportion of cobalt is down to 10 percent. When the battery is to be recharged, it uses 400 volt architecture that supports up to 200 kW fast charging and it has an onboard charger of 22 kW for typical home charging.

It should now be added that the fewest households in Norway are able to deliver 22 kW for charging an electric car.
Mercedes-Benz EQE: – Must set a new standard
It will be very exciting to carry out consumption tests at EQS, as air resistance is the electric car’s worst enemy. But EQS has the market’s absolute lowest air resistance, with a CD value, which is the benchmark, of only 0.2. No other series-produced car has ever had better aerodynamics than this.
EQS is not only the brand’s flagship only in the Norwegian market, but is in many ways the spearhead in the entire investment for the future from Mercedes-Benz. During the upcoming car show in Munich, which was previously held in Frankfurt, the company will only concentrate on fully electric cars. This testifies to where the development resources are located.
Although the fossil car will still be on the market for many years, its days on the car manufacturers’ drawing board will quickly come to an end.
