Tekken 8 promises to be a worthy successor to Tekken 7. Not only the graphics have received a major upgrade, but also the voiceovers and the way of fighting. That new way of fighting, in which you are mainly urged to attack aggressively, takes some getting used to. If you’re someone who is a bit more cautious and regularly gets on the defensive, you’re at a disadvantage and that might not feel fair. Still, I understand Bandai Namco’s choice of this strategy and it will produce spectacular images during esports competitions. The Unreal 5 engine used will take this spectacle to the next level, as the lighting effects, water effects, detailed characters and environments splash off your screen. The game will be released on January 26, 2024 for the Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5 and PC.
