Jil Teichmann reached the 2nd round at the WTA tournament in New York without any problems. The Swiss beat American Danielle Collins 6: 3, 6: 3.

Teichmann (WTA 54), who failed in the final on her first tour appearance after the corona break in Lexington and survived the qualification in New York before last week, showed a sovereign performance against Collins, who was one place better in the world rankings.

Next, Estonian Anett Kontaveit (WTA 20) is waiting for Teichmann in the 2nd round on Monday. The two have never played against each other.

The first two of the seeding list failed in the second round in New York: The Czech Karolina Pliskova (WTA 3) was defeated by the Russian Veronika Kudermetowa (WTA 41) in two sets, as was the American Sofia Kenin (WTA 4) by the French Alizé Cornet (WTA 60).
