Jil Teichmann (WTA 44) will face Spain’s Cristina Bucsa (WTA 161) in the 1st round of the US Open in New York on Tuesday. La Biennoise has revenge to take against her.
In their only duel so far, in 2018, Bucsa won in straight sets. The Spaniard won the right to face Teichmann in New York after extricating herself from qualifying. Jil Teichmann, recent finalist in Cincinnati, will be overwhelmingly favorite.
The other Swiss main draw, Belinda Bencic (WTA 12) and Viktorija Golubic (WTA 45), will also enter the contention on Tuesday. Golubic will play after Novak Djokovic in the night session at Arthur Ashe Stadium against Canadian Bianca Andreescu (WTA 7). Bencic will face Dutch Arantxa Rus (WTA 69).
Monday, Henri Laaksonen (ATP 130) will be the only Swiss entered. The Schaffhousois, out of qualifying, will play against Australia’s John Millman (ATP 42) at 5 p.m. (Swiss time).
