“Teenagers Rescued from Flooded Tunnel in New Jersey”

Two teenagers were rescued from a tunnel that was flooded due to heavy rain over the weekend.

The incident occurred on Sunday at the Bergen County, New Jersey. The fire department responded to an emergency call in the abandoned tunnel of the New York & Western Railway station at 4:25 PM.

The youths were trapped 300 feet from the Edgewater entrance in what is called the Edgewater-Fairview Tunnel.

Observing the children, rescuers used an inflatable boat to rescue the teens from floodwaters that were up to 5 feet high.

The youths remained seated on top of a tube that runs through the entire length of the tunnel. The teens said they were on the tube for two hours.
